TWIFO/ATI-MORKWA DISTRICT HOLDS STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT ON INTEGRATING SOCIAL SERVICES DELIVERY
The District Co-ordinating Director (DCD) for Twifo/Ati-Morkwa, Mr. Bernard K. P. Sakyiama has encouraged all stakeholders to come together in the fight to enhance social services delivery within the Twifo/Ati-Morkwa District. He made this statement during his speech delivery at a Stakeholders meeting on the Integration of Social Services Delivery organized by the Department of Community Development and Social Welfare on Tuesday, 27th July, 2021. Mr. Bernard K. P. Sakyiama went on to urge participants to be active partakers of the workshop and also pay particular attention to the departments charged to tackle domestic cases and effectively overcome challenges surrounding Social Services Delivery.
Stakeholders within the District and also present at the event were the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), the Ghana Health Services (GHS), Department of Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVSSU), the Media, the Ghana Education Services (GES) and the Commission for Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ).
Mr. Kofi Kwakye, Head of the Department of Community Development and Social Welfare briefed the Stakeholders on the objective of the Implementation of the Social Services Initiative, which according to him seeks to strengthen inter-agency collaboration at decentralized agencies in the district, so as to ensure more efficient services delivery for the most vulnerable and marginalized population.
Mr. Kofi Kwakye focused his presentation on people exempted from contributing to the National Health Insurance Scheme (Section 29 ACT 852), Basic rights of children (CHILDREN’S ACT 560 OF 1998), Child protection, Child abuse, Investigations that are carried out by the Department of Community Development and Social Welfare, Meaning of care and protection, Persons to report child abuse and protection cases, What to do if you suspect that a child has been abused, Publication of information on children, Child labor prohibition of exploitative child abuse, Minimum weight for light work for children, Domestic violence, How and when to file complaint with the police in cases of domestic and child abuse and ways in which the police can assist in helping when a case is filed.
The District Director of Health Services-Mr. Samuel Kwabena Ofosu, the Head of Human Resources at the District Education Office-Mad. Betty Bio Nyamekye, the Head of DOVVSU-Inspector Emmanuel Mensah, and the Head of CHRAJ-Mr. Justice P.K. Aggrey all took turns to address the gathering on the various roles each of them play in the Delivery of Social Services within the District and how together, enhance the services.
