MR. A. M. AWAL SUHUYINI
The Office of the Head of the Local Government Service appointed A. M. Awal
Suhuyini as an Ag. District Coordinating Director to the Twifo/Ati-Morkwa District
Assembly in September 2022.
He is a resident of Tamale and a native of Gbarnaayili in the Tolon District of the
Northern Region, Ghana.
Prior to his appointment, the Office of the Head of the Local Government Service
appointed him on secondment to the Monitoring and Evaluation Secretariate under
the Office of the President in October 2021. He served as the Ag. Director of Finance
and Administration.
He was a professional Development Planning practitioner for several
Municipal/District Assemblies across the various Regions in Ghana from November
2005 to April 2020 when he was appointed as an Ag. District Coordinating Director
for the North Tongu District Assembly in the Volter Region.
He studied Integrated Development Studies at the University for Development
Studies from 1998 to 2002 and obtained a Master’s Degree in Development Policy and
Planning at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 2014. He
is a member of the Ghana Institute of Planners.
A. M. Awal Suhuyini’s areas of special interest are Participatory Development
Planning and Budgeting, Community Development, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
(WASH) sector planning, Procurement Management and Monitoring and Evaluation.
A. M. Awal Suhuyini’s relationship with Ghana’s Local Government Service began in
June 2004 as a volunteer Assistant Development Planning officer. He was appointed
as a substantive Assistant Development Planning Officer in 2005 and got promoted
through the ranks of Development Planning Officer, Senior Development Planning
Officer, Principal Development Planning Officer and now Chief Development
Planning Officer in 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2022 respectively.
He has held several positions and served as Desk Officer for both local and foreign
Development Partners on projects and programmes funded by the Government of the
Republic of Ghana, the German Government, the United States of America, the World
Bank and African Development Bank and Mentorship.
A. M. Awal Suhuyini is married with two (2) wives and five (5) children.
