TWIFO/ATI-MORKWA NADMO SEIZES AND DESTROYS EXPIRED GOODS IN THE PRASO TOWNSHIP

The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) on Tuesday, 22nd December, 2020 carried out an exercise to inspect the expiration of products, especially food items on the market in Twifo Praso, the District capital of Twifo/Ati-Morkwa.

The exercise was led by the District Director for the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr. Addae Marfo accompanied by the Ghana Police Service, the Media and the Information Services Department. The team managed to inspect goods in over two hundred (200) shops within the District capital and at the end of the exercise, seized hundreds of expired products.

The exercise continued on Thursday 24th December, 2020 together with the Food and Drugs Authority Personnel from Cape Coast. At the end of the exercise, goods worth thousands of Ghana Cedis were seized. The seized products ranged from soft and alcoholic drinks to biscuits, sanitary pads, bottled water etc.

The NADMO team together with the Food and Drugs Authority’s officers from Cape Coast and the Environmental Health Department, on Thursday, 14th January, 2021 destroyed all the seized goods at the refuse site.

The team ensured that all goods were destroyed completely to avoid use by other persons before departing from the site.
