The Central Regional Co-Ordinator for the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr. Joseph Kwame Donkor as a matter of urgency, urged the District Assembly to device a roadmap to relocate the affected communities and present it to the Regional Security Council for approval and further actions.
The Director made this appeal when he paid a working visit to the affected communities (Kokoase, Twansukoda, New Tofoe, Old Praso, Roman Ridge, New York and Bankyease) who reside closely at the bank of the Pra River. He directed the District Assembly to design a roadmap and submit to the Regional Security Council for approval so that they can evacuate and relocate those staying closely at the bank of the river but assured the affected communities of their immediate interventions to ease their problems.
The Head of Works Department for the Twifo/Ati-Morkwa District Assembly, Mr. Eric Nyame assured the Director that the necessary actions will be taken with immediate effect to avoid any life loss and further destructions of properties by the river and will also act accordingly as requested.
The affected included One Hundred and Eighty (180) Male Adults, Three Hundred (300) Female Adults, One Hundred and Forty (140) Male Children and Two Hundred and Thirty (230) Female. Some of the items destroyed included houses, fridges, microwave, sound system etc.
In his company were the Deputy Regional Co-Ordinator for the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) – Mr. Francis Ekow Amponsah, the District Co-Ordinator for Twifo/Ati-Morkwa,NADMO – Mr. Richmond Addae Marfo, the Assemblywoman for Old Praso Electoral Area – Hon. Vida Amponsah, the District Head of Works Department, TAMDA – Mr. Eric Nyame, Assistant Director IA, TAMDA – Mr. Bernard Koomson, the media and some personnel from both the Regional and District NADMO offices.
