Agriculture is the Science and Art of cultivating plants and livestock which has contributed greatly to the growth of the Human Civilization and consequently enabled people to have a life in the cities. In Ghana, however, many people are of the view that only the deprived and uneducated venture into agriculture or specifically, farming.
Mr. Isaac Agyiri, a professional Teacher and Headmaster of Twifo Nyinase Catholic Basic School went against all odds when he won the Overall Best Farmer Award on 6th November, 2020 in the Twifo/Ati-Morkwa District in the Central Region in this years’ 36th Edition of Farmers’ Day Celebration themed: Agribusiness Development Under Covid-19 – Challenges and Opportunities.
As the Overall Best Farmer, he received a Tricycle, a Knapsack Sprayer, two (2) Urea Fertilizers, five (5) Cutlasses, NPK Fertilizer Bag, two (2) Bottles of Weedicide, full piece of cloth, four (4) bars of Key soap, two (2) Wellington boots and a Radio set.
After receiving his award, Mr. Isaac Agyiri in his appreciation speech, inspired the gathering to not shun any opportunity to farm or acquire a farm land for cultivation purposes. He sensitized the gathering on the pros and cons of farming and taking it up as a profession. He expressed immense gratitude for the support Government gives to farmers through the implementation of its policies to boost the Agricultural sector. He declared how proud he was to be a professional Farmer and a professional Teacher as well.
