Twifo Ati-Morkwa District Assembly Celebrates Ghana’s Independence Day in Grand Style. (Ghana @68)

As Ghana commemorated yet another Independence Day, the Twifo Ati-Morkwa District Assembly held a grand celebration filled with patriotism, culture, and recognition of excellence. The event brought together dignitaries, students, educators, and community members to reflect on the nation’s history and future aspirations.

The program commenced with the pouring of libation by the Okyeame of Morkwa Traditional Council and opening prayer by Rev. Paul Owusu-Badu, followed by the singing of the national anthem. MC Richard Mensah then took the stage to introduce and welcome distinguished guests, setting the tone for a memorable event. He then called the District Information Officer, in the person of Mr. Sampson Ayangba to introduce the dignitaries present.

A highlight of the celebration was a powerful poem recital by selected students, emphasizing the importance of independence and national unity. The MC elaborated on the poems, talking about standing up against “Galamsey” with an emphasis to the Pra river and live with good moral values.

 The District Director of Education (DDE) introduced the various participating schools, recognizing their efforts in both academic and extracurricular activities. She presented the address from the President to “Reflect, Review and Reset” our nation Ghana. She talked about making sure education reaches every child in the country and encouraged teachers and students to do their best.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Twifo Ati-Morkwa, Hon. David T.D. Vondee delivered an insightful address, focusing on the crucial role of education in shaping the country’s future using the theme of this year’s celebration “Reflect, Review, Reset”. He encouraged teachers to go beyond their formal responsibilities and invest in the holistic development of students.

In a display of rich Ghanaian culture, the Banbo Firi Nyame Cultural Troupe with God’s time Preparatory School, Twifo Morkwa performed a vibrant traditional dance, thrilling the audience with their artistic expressions.

The Acting District Chief Executive (DCE) who is also the District Co-Ordinating Director (DCD), Mr. Mohammed A. W. Suhuyini took the stage to commend the students and teachers for their dedication and hard work, urging them to uphold the values of discipline and commitment to national development.

As part of the celebration, awards were presented to outstanding Students and teachers. Samsudeen Mustapha, Joel Osei, Atua Kenneth and Francis Addae Mensah were recognized as the top BECE students, currently excelling in Senior High education. Madam Charlotte Eku Dougan, a teacher from Twifo Mampong school, Madam Sarah Tindana of Aboabo D/A JHS and Madam Felicia Esi Tetteh  also received honors for their outstanding achievements.

The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by the Chairman of the event, Nana expressing gratitude to the Twifo Manhene, Twifo Morkwa Manhene, all Dignitaries present, the MP and the Nation’s President. And to the schools present, participants and organizers bringing an end to a successful and inspiring Independence Day celebration.

The event not only paid tribute to Ghana’s struggle for independence but also served as a reminder of the importance of education, culture, and unity in national development.
