LAUNCH OF 30 DAYS TO THE 2021 CENSUS NIGHT IN THE TWIFO/ATI-MORKWA DISTRICT

The Twifo/Ati -Morkwa District Assembly (TAMDA) in collaboration with the District Census Implementation Committee (DCIC) on Friday, 28th May, 2021 launched 30 Days to the 2021 Census night at the Twifo Praso, Presbyterian Church. The exercise was intended to meet and collaborate with all the Stakeholders in the District to aid in raising awareness on the upcoming Census in the District.

Present at the launch were the District Coordinating Director (DCD), the District Minister for the Twifo Praso Presbyterian Church (Chairman of the event), the District Census Officer (DCO), the Presiding Member of TAMDA, the District Security Committee (DISEC), the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), the Labor Unions, the Market Associations, the Media, the Local Council of Churches, all Heads of Department/Unit and Members of the DCIC.

The speakers of the event, Mr. Bernard K.P. Sakyiama – the District Coordinating Director and Mr. Adu Twum (District Census Officer) both described the state of Ghana’s Census activity as fairly consistent every Ten (10) years since 1960. They said the 2021 Population and Housing Census (PHC) would provide data on sex, age, birth, death and migration and it is therefore worth noting that the 2021 Population and Housing Census would update information on the Population to help the Government in its decision making for development and progress.

Mr. Adu Twum said that provision for tablets, maps, identification cards/equipment to aid in the exercise had been made. He briefed the gathering on the Census Night activities and stating the date for activity as Sunday, 27th June, 2021and then enumeration which also starts on Monday, 28th June 2021.

The gathering was entreated to raise awareness on this important National exercise.
