DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE MEETS WITH HEADS OF CHRISTIAN CHURCHES IN THE DISTRICT AT THE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY HALL

On Wednesday 13th September, 2023, the District Chief Executive of the Twifo/Ati-Morkwa District assembly Honorable Robert Agyemang-Nyantakyi together with Executives of the Local Council of Churches (LCC) met with leaders of the Christian Churches in the district to educate them on the need to have their Churches registered and gazetted for marriage rights and the need for oneness among local churches.

The meeting saw the attendance of Leaders of various Christian denominations with variant degrees of accolade. The Chairman for the Regional Peace Council Rt. Rev. Richardson Aboagye Andam of the Methodist Church, Apostle A.P.A Marfo of the Mountain of Grace Ministries, Rev. Samuel Antwis, the Regional Coordinator of the Local Council of Churches to mention but a few were some of the clergy men that honoured the invite.

In furtherance of the gathering, Rt. Rev. Richardson Aboagye Andam gave a word of exhortation centering on love and oneness amongst clergy men. His message followed a welcome address from the District Chief Executive who welcomed all ministers and encouraged them to come together to form an association as that could make them stronger attract aide from governmental and non-governmental organisations.

Also, he stressed on the need for clergy men to be register and gazette their churches as that is the only license that mandates them to officiate marriages. Churches who are not licensed can be sanctioned and arrested by law for marriage officiations and so to avoid this unpleasant incident, he urged clergy men to cease the opportunity the Assembly is offering by registering their Churches and having themselves gazetted to ensure smooth marriage process in the district.

The marriage registrar of the district Mr. Bernard Koomson, highlighted on key processes to having a church licensed and clergies gazetted. He encouraged all to visit the assembly’s outfit responsible for these processes. gazetting of clergy men and licensing of churches for marriages.

Rev. Samuel K. Antwis prompted the gathering on the election of new executives for the district’s local council of churches. This request was met with objections from many clergy men as the time given them for this exercise was short, leaving many unprepared for this activity. It was therefore suggested by majority of the gathering to postpone such exercise to a day to be agreed by outgoing executives and leading clergy men.

The DCE expressed his profound gesture to clergy men for honoring his invite and pledged support to the formation of Local Council of Churches, Praso Chapter.
