Ghana over the years has been noted for its rich tradition and culture celebrated around the world in the spirit of love and oneness. Twifo/Ati-Morkwa district is not left out in the history of Ghana’s rich culture and tradition.
On 7th May, 2025, the Adontehene and Chief of Pewodie of the Twifo/Ati-Morkwa district Nana Kyeahene Afari II commemorated its 30 years of reign as chief and leader of the community. The celebration ear marked the great achievements of the Nana Kyeahene Afari II as leader of the community since his 30 years of rulership as chief. The ceremony witnessed the presence of chiefs from far and near communities.
In an arrival by the District Chief Executive (DCE) of the district, Hon. Isaac Yawson, the people of Pewodie headed by Okyeame Opia Mensah, linguist for Nana Kyeahene II, welcomed the DCE and his entourage to the ceremony.
In an address by the DCE, he commended Nana Kyeahene II for making him a part of the ceremony. He also took opportunity to express his gratitude for the honour given him, Member of Parliament and President of the Republic of Ghana in the just ended 2024 general elections to lead the people of Ghana most especially Twifo/Ati-Morkwa district.
Accordingly, he pledged governments support to the community as it achieves its mile stone of greatness.
Unveiling the new Palace has brought memory of the great Manhyia Palace of the Asante region of Ghana, which has been a reservoir of great history, culture and traditions of Africans.
The DCE expressed joy on how he believes the unveiling of this new Palace will also host historic memories, artifacts, culture and tradition of Pewodie and beyond, which will draw people from far and near districts, regions and nations to come witness the great Culture of the Twifo people.
This he said could be a great tourist attraction in the district comparably to the Manhyia Palace of the Asante region of Ghana.
In furtherance of the event, he highlighted on governments policies of giving out fertilizers to farmers to support farming, free fees to first year’s tertiary education students and an asphalt road from the district township to various communities.
He donated a bottle of Schnapp, and amount of one thousand Ghana cedis (GHS 1,000.00) on behalf the Member of Parliament for the district, Hon. David T. Vondee, to support the event.
Nana Kyeahene II, ceased the opportunity to express his profound gratitude to the DCE and his entourage for honouring the ceremony with their presence and gifts.
