This year’s district Tree for Life Initiative was commemorated at the Twifo/Ati-Morkwa district hospital on Thursday 5th June, 2025.
The atmosphere was filled with purpose as the Director of the Forestry Commission, Prince Fordjour, addressed the gathering.
His words carried the weight of responsibility and hope, outlining the initiative’s mission: to restore the land, breathe life into the environment, and secure a greener future.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Isaac Yawson, with a passionate and action-driven speech, welcomed participants.
He challenged all community heads, departmental heads, religious leaders and healthcare workers to embrace the culture of tree planting as a responsibility toward environmental preservation.
Hon. Isaac Yawson further on called on the legal authorities to enforce strict environmental laws by prosecuting individuals who develop lands without planting trees.
He emphasized that offenders of deforestation practices should not only face punishment but also be required to plant a designated number of trees as part of their penalty turning wrong into restoration.
A commemorative tree planting took place after the speeches with each tree planted by the DCE, Hon. Isaac Yawson, DOIII Gogogovi – district fire commander, Assistant Director 1A, Mr. Francis Filson, the filled area marshal Director for Forestry Commission, Dunkwa, healthcare workers and a host of stakeholders.
A symbol of renewal and environmental care took root in the earth.
A sense of fulfillment and unity lingered in the air as the event drew to a close. Attendees departed carrying more than just the memory of the morning they left with a renewed commitment to protect and nurture their natural world.
