OFFICIALS OF THE TWIFO/ATI-MORKWA DISTRICT ASSEMBLY INSPECTS INNER ROADS WITH CONTRACTOR DISTRICT ASSEMBLY.

The District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Isaac Yawson, District Coordinating Director (DCD), Mr. Awal A.M. Suhuyini and the Member of the Council of State for the Central Region, who also doubles as the chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Twifo/Ati-Morkwa Constituency, Hon. Hakeem Addae embarked on a road inspection tour on some inner roads within the district capital on Tuesday 22nd April, 2025.

The inspection team was headed by the district Engineer, Mr. Eric Nyame and the Contractor Mr. Junior Ghartey of the Al-Khalif Construction Company, and accompanied by the District Police Commander Superintendent Charles Addai-Boateng and other police officers.

During the tour, several concerns were raised by some residents and community leaders regarding the impact of the construction on local infrastructure.

At the Tofoi-Zongo community a suburb of the Twifo Praso township, residents pointed out a tilted light pole, which had shifted due to the ongoing road works. The district Engineer for the Electricity Company of Ghana, Twifo Praso, Eng. Redeemer assured the inspection team on resolving the issue. He also noted that in resolving the issue, a possible power outage will be inevitable in the district capital, regardless people within the district will be notified in advance.

In another area labeled the Pentecost Mission House St., concerns were raised over water accumulation caused by the new road layout, especially in front of a church around the Pentecost Mission House area. The inspection team was urged to consider reconstructing the drainage gutter to allow proper water flow and prevent flooding.

On the Bofopa water company stretch, Mr. Sackey and Mr. Appiah esteemed residents of the area expressed dissatisfaction regarding the relocation of light poles along the road. However, following discussions between community elders and the inspection team, the residents agreed to the changes.

Further concerns were raised along the stretch of road between Callips View Hotel and God first Hotel of the Confidence Street. The engineer and contractor responded by assuring community elders that the issues would be addressed in due course, provided adequate time was allowed.

The inspection team also assessed the portion of the road that links the Twifo Praso old market to join the Praso-Dunkwa high street. At one of the junctions, the team encountered concerns over a building reportedly constructed on top of a drainage channel an issue that sparked discussions about potential flooding risks. Ing. Eric Nyame responsible for authoring the construction of both major and minor projects within the district shared concerns of persons not adhering to permit regulations within the district.

Hon. Isaac Yawson, DCE for the district reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the project meets safety and quality standards while addressing community concerns and commended Al-Khalif Construction Company as it continues to work under close supervision with district engineer and local authorities, all the in the aim of enhancing development and improving road network within the Twifo/Ati-Morkwa District.
