NEW DAWN FOR SERVICE PERSONNEL IN THE TWIFO ATI-MORKWA DISTRICT.
The National Service Scheme (NSS) personnel at Twifo Ati-Morkwa District, witnessed a spirited orientation and election exercise for the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA-TAMD) on the April 25th, 2025 setting the tone for a year of service, leadership, and responsibility.
The program commenced with an opening prayer led by Ebenezer Baah, creating a solemn and purposeful atmosphere. Mr. Isaac Appiah, the District Director, welcomed the personnel with an address that highlighted the significance of national service and the critical role personnel play in national development.
As part of the orientation, attendees were taken through the history of the NSS and educated on the different types of service personnel. Particular attention was given to the process of payment for subvented personnel, ensuring that all present had a clear understanding of how their allowances would be handled.
Personnel were also briefed on important timelines regarding their leave periods. Those who commenced service in October 2024 were informed that their leave month would be September 2025. In a similar vein, teacher trainees who began their service in April 2025 would take their leave in March 2026.
James Kwesi Narh, former NASPA President for the 2022/2023 year, took the stage to answer questions from personnel, shedding light on certification processes and what to expect as they prepare to leave office after six months of active service.
Addressing the gathering, the District Chief Executive (DCE) encouraged personnel to give their utmost wherever they were posted, stressing that excellence is needed at every level and in every location, no matter how remote or challenging.
The highlight of the day was the election of new NASPA executives. Led by the outgoing president, form regional PRO and all other outgoing executives, the election saw a competitive but peaceful contest. Aspirants introduced themselves briefly before voting commenced.
In the tightly contested presidential race, candidate Emmanuel K. Korankye. secured victory with 55 votes, narrowly beating Emmanuel Dankwa, who garnered 32 votes. The Vice President’s position was decided with a slim margin between Hon. Isaac Fosu and Kenneth Attah Kontoh, while the General Secretary, Miss Eugenia, emerged with a commanding 55 votes over Miss Tracy Opoku who garnered 35 votes. The positions of Financial Secretary, Organizing Secretary, and Women’s Commissioner were won unopposed.
