In boosting agricultural production to feed the nation and provide raw materials for agro-industry and in the creation of jobs, the government of Ghana as part of its promises rolled out the Feed Ghana Programme (FGP). The program was launched by the government this year 11th April, 2025 to promote local food production.
This initiative is targeted to help implement all elements of Agriculture for Economic Transformation Agenda (AETA) and is launched to drive the growth and modernisation of the agricultural sector.
It also seeks to bolster agribusiness development, secure food availability, mitigate food inflation, increase export revenues, and generate sustainable job opportunities.
The initiative, was launched by the President, John Dramani Mahama to help transform country’s agricultural sector, reduce import dependency, and boost both domestic production and exports.
Following the vision of the program, on Wednesday 24th September, 2025, the FGP team led by Dr. Peter Omega, regional FGP director, Mrs. Sophia Arthur regional agricultural director and Mr. John Tawiah-Aidoo district director of agriculture made a courtesy call to the district chief executive of the Twifo/Ati-Morkwa district assembly.
Their visit was to formally assess the progress of the program in the district and access support from relevant stakeholders to ensure a complete success of the program.
Hon. Isaac Yawson, the district Chief Executive (DCE) for the district together with the District Coordinating Director (DCD) Mr. Awal A.M Suhuyini expressed profound appreciation to implementers of the FGP and pledged total support to beneficiaries of the program.
