REPORT ON GENERAL STAFF MEETING WITH THE NEW DISTRICT CHIEF EXECUTIVE AND PRESIDING MEMBER.

A general meeting was held involving staff, the new DCE and PM of the  Twifo Ati-Morkwa  district assembly, with the aim of fostering unity, addressing staff welfare, and promoting effective implementation of government policies. The meeting opened with a prayer led by the HR Officer, Mr Aikins and proceeded with the introduction of attendees to the District Coordinating Director (DCE) and the Presiding Member (PM).

Address by the DCE

The new DCE, in the person of Hon. Isaac Yawson emphasized the need to put politics aside in the discharge of duties and focus on developmental goals. He cautioned staff against the spread of gossip, particularly the dissemination of office information to outsiders, warning that it could harm the district’s reputation. Staff were reminded to be cautious with their words and to handle sensitive information responsibly.

The issue of staff motivation was discussed extensively. The DCE highlighted the importance of reviving the tradition of providing staff incentives such as rice, oil, and fuel during festive seasons. The Finance Department and other departments with the capability were encouraged to do something with exploring options through Internally Generated Funds (IGF) and the Common Fund to make this possible.

Staff were encouraged to support the implementation of government policies. It was announced that a new NYE Director would soon be appointed to help champion initiatives that benefit the people. The commitment of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the welfare of citizens was reiterated.

Address by the PM

The PM, Hon Daniel Kwabena Agbodza urged staff to make a lasting impact with the little time they have in office, encouraging them to “leave a legacy.” He expressed satisfaction with the performance of some staff and called for unity among all. The PM also proposed organizing a football match between staff and the Assembly Members team to promote camaraderie.

Other Matters

The Assistant Director I, Mr. Filson led the discussion staff-related issues including understaffing and material needs. There was an appeal for better sanitation conditions and provision for the staff bungalow. The Transport Officer addressed challenges with faulty vehicles, and the need for better maintenance was emphasized.

Additional concerns raised included:

  • The need for a new photocopy machine due to confidentiality concerns.
  • Workshop requests for skill development.

The meeting concluded with an acknowledgment of ongoing challenges, but a strong call for unity and dedication to duty. The Assistant Director I expressed gratitude towards the DCE, PM and all attendees for making the meeting a memorable one.

Finally, Mr Alhassan the head of the internal Audit department led the congregation in an Islamic Prayer as we bring the meeting to a successful end.
