TAMDA HOSTS 2022 REGIONAL COMPOSITE BUDGET HEARING
The Twifo/Ati-Morkwa District Assembly (TAMDA) hosted a panel from the Central Regional Coordinating Council (CRCC), the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the Ministry for Local Governance and Rural Development (MLGRD) and a team from the Upper Denkyira West District Assembly and for the hearing of the 2022 Regional Composite Budget. The activity was organized concurrently for all Two Hundred and Sixty (260) Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDA’s) in all sixteen (16) regions in Ghana from 11th to 23rd October, 2021
The District Chief Executive for Twifo/Ati-Morkwa, Hon. Robert Agyemang Nyantakyi, expressed his profound gratitude to all present and for their immense contribution in diverse ways during his confirmation. He added that the exercise (Budget Hearing) formed a very integral part of the work of the District Assemblies as it served as their ‘Bible’ for the year under review.
In a speech read on behalf of the Finance Minister, Hon. Ken Ofori Atta, it noted that, the economy was making gradual strides towards recovering from the shock of the COVID-19 pandemic and as such government was implementing initiatives such as the Ghana-Cares Initiative to deal with the issues of the fiscal impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. On Revenue Enhancement Measures, he urged the various assemblies to pursue revenue enhancement measures with a focus deepening the digitization agenda on revenue collection system to broaden the revenue based and rope in more eligible tax and rate payers.
The Central Regional Minister – Mrs. Justina Marygold Assan, in a message delivered on her behalf appealed to the District Assemblies to prioritize Solid Waste Management, Sanitation and Youth Empowerment in their 2022 budget.
The final reading of the budget is expected to take place on 15th November, 2021 at the Regional level and for the final approval.
