TAMDA HOLDS CAPACITY BUILDING TRAINING FOR STAFF OF THE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

TAMDA HOLDS CAPACITY BUILDING TRAINING FOR STAFF OF THE DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

The Twifo/Ati-Morkwa District Assembly on Wednesday, 26th January, 2022 and Thursday, 27th January, 2022, organized a capacity building training for all Departmental/Units Heads and some selected Staff of the District Assembly at the District Assembly Hall. The training was meant to sharpen the skills of Staff for proper service delivery and to also achieve set targets of the District Assembly in 2022 and beyond.

Mr. Bernard K.P. Sakyiama welcomed colleagues gathered and commended them for making it a point to attend the training. He added that the training was an opportunity for Staff to be re-united with forgotten skill set and therefore called for their maximum effort participation in making the training a success. Also, he admonished members of Staff to use the opportunity given to enhance their revenue mobilization skills as they [Staff] are better beneficiaries than non-Staff.  Again, he stated that it was the responsibility of members to help in revenue mobilization to help run the administration and development in the District as well. He stated that he was with the hope that the training will entice members of Staff to read more on the Local Governance Act so as to enable them understand, enforce and abide by the laws they work with as well as to sharpen their skills. Finally, he advised Staff to do well to add to their knowledge by going beyond their unit to learn from other departments in order to help achieve their goal.

Prof. Oduro Ofori expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and stated that it was to enable Staff acquire enough skills to apply in the field. He then led the Staff through series of presentation on the Local Governance Act 2016 (936), Records keeping and management, Reports and Minutes writing, and Revenue Mobilization.

He also shed light on other functions of the District Assembly [where he further explained the membership, administration and committees of the District Assembly]. Again, he gave detailed explanation on the importance, characteristics and how to demonstrate and apply effective minutes, and report writing skills as well as how to adopt best practices in creating, capturing, managing and maintaining records for improved organizational performance. Prof. Oduro Ofori also highlighted on revenue mobilization strategies and methods, where he talked about the actors in revenue mobilization, roles of revenue collectors, duties of revenue collectors amongst others.

Mr. Owuraku Nsiah who accompanied Prof. Oduro Ofori, led the Staff through a comprehensive discussion on the Public Financial Management Act.
