SITUATIONAL REPORT

On the 18th and 19th June, 2022 at around 2pm and 11:30pm respectively, a heavy downpour destroyed Fifty-Three (53) houses with a total of Two Hundred and Sixty-Five (265) individuals affected in Twifo Adugyaa, Daamang, Twifo Sumnyamekodur and Twifo Ntafrewaso in the Twifo/Ati-Mokwa district.

The District Chief Executive for Twifo/Ati-Morkwa, Hon. Robert Agyemang-Nyantakyi together with the District Coordinator for the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) Mr. Richmond Addae Marfo visited the disaster scenes.

The team first visited a broken-down bridge which links the Twifo/Ati-Morkwa District to the Wassa East District. The team discovered that the bridge had been fixed by the Wassa Gold Mines and the contractor assured the District Chief Executive that the bridge would be fully motorable by close of day.

Hon. Robert Agyemang-Nyantakyi and the team also visited Twifo Adugyaa and Twifo Ntafrewaso where he sympathized with the affected and assured them of the necessary help as made available by the Central government.

Items destroyed included TV sets, Sound systems, Chairs, houses and other home essentials. It was noted that Thirty-Four (34) of the houses affected were beyond repairs. The NADMO Department concluded that the wreckage was worth Five Hundred and Forty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 540,000.00).

Families affected lodged in Guest Houses and Schools.
